Post by: jamesledingham on January 07, 2008, 13:04:05
...is leaking. Is this an MOT failure? Does it HAVE to be replaced?

Yes a leaky PAS is MOT failure.
You can replace the seals but may not cure the leak.
If you get a replacement buy a new item form adwest engineering not a recon from distributors!

it can weap at mot standard, but at the discretion of the examiner, if this was not the case noones would pass
if its just weaping wipe it dry before you go in for the test, but if its a bad leak then it should be changed if only for your piece of mind.

May not be permanent but , this works!
Add some brake fluid to power steering bottle / reservoir, it makes seals swell a bit and stops leak, it has worked for me in the past.
