Richard Brunstrum, Chief Constable of North Wales Police, well known for his views on speeding has introduced a new model of hyper efficent speed cameras. This is a pic of the first installation of the new 'Zero Tolerance Camera'.
-
Don't Joke! If Richard Brunstrum thought he could get away with it we would have them fitted!
-
i think its a good idea :)
cos i never ever speed
-
I read on a BBC site local Welsh councils are unhappy with his policy on speeding as it is putting off tourists, they have accounts of people nearly loosing their licence in a weeks holiday as they have been caught so much.
Cant find the link
-
And if the did have a gatso like this it would still take a photo, kill you then take the money form your estate (after tax)

There is a simple answer to that one, if they didnt speed they wouldnt have a problem, so therefore its the individuals own fault!!

We know that
-
saw one of them in france on the road to calias
-
shame they cant shoot an electronic signal to cut the engine, as most of them are electronic now
Kills the motor for 30 minutes, and then they can get going again and fined through the post, or a nice man in a uniform has a discussion with them about the relevent speed for the conditions and area

Im a self confessed speeder, and i think its somthing that 85% of drivers do an a day to day basis. ever followed a car going really slow and looked down at your speedo to discover he is doing 30mph?

yes and its usualy some (insert expleative of choice here) in a micra in a 60 limit zone
-
Hasn't he decided if certain drugs were legal there would be no 'gang culture' or something...

Next time that happens and the car you're following is a dark grey Discovery with tinted windows ... give me a cheery wave as you overtake
-
I rarely overtake. It might just be the roads round here. The A62 is a 30mph limit but traffic flows freely at 40mph usually.

As sombody who lives in north wales I can honestly say Tourist drive tooooooooo slow
I have to travel 10 miles to work and back and staying in the speed limit I can do it in 15-20 mins easy in winter , come the summer and it can take an hour  They spend so much time chatting pointing at trees, lakes, birds and sheep that they don't realise that they have slowed to 15 20mph in a fifty zone and as a lot of the roads are bendy you can't get past'em so a lot of the locals me included have started leaning on the horn ..like a car choir  .
As for the speed cameras they tell us where and when they will be set up in the local papers
And for those who need to know there are no fixed cameras in Gwynedd

There's a can of worms. The arguament behind the pojnts system rather than just a fine is that your conviction shouold show the error of your ways and give you chance to put your house in order, otherwise there would come a point where it was more profitable for reps to go everytwhere at 120mph and just pay the fines. Don't laugh, it was commonplace in the transport industry at one time.
Thing is, with the camera hding in a hedgerow (made worse if you don't know the area) then the first thing you know is when the envelope drops onbto your doormat. If you've been on holiday then potentially you could have 4 or more waiting for you on your return.
As there is currently no limit to the amount of convistions that can be posted at one time you can go from clean licence to banned driver in one sitting. Where then is the chance to see the error of your ways?
Yet another flaw in our gov'ts anti-motorist policy, after all even their own figures prove that speed doesn't cause more than 1.6% of accidents.

Yeah, right. Then car theives find out how to replicate the signal and can stop a car at will and force you our of it. A muggers dream come true. Oh, and I'll do the same so I can stop anyone who cuts me up.

As a biker and from a bikers point of view it's about the lowest possible thing you could allow to happen to the family left behind. I dare say that if he should walk into a pub full of fellow riders of the iron horse, there wouldn't be alot left to clear up after they've finished!!!!!
