Guys, I need a bit of urgent help. Our fine new RRC LSE is due it's MOT on the 22nd of Jan... we've just discovered that there is a chunk of welding required on the nearside sill & A post. The worst of the rot has been removed and I have pattern parts... what I don't have is a scooby about welding!
If one of you fine folks could see yourway to helping me out I'd be terribly grateful... [-o<
I may have access to a ramp where the work can be carried out but it's not a guarantee.
I'm based in Rugby but the car is mobile and can be moved. I'll prep it by removing carpets etc and will act as an unpaid apprentice for the day as well!
Your in anticipation....

i had to learn the hard way. get a cheap gasless mig welder u ll soon pick it up. we all will help with tips as much as we can.
-
I'm not in Warwickshire and I'm not saying I would have the time to do it at the moment, but have you got any pics of the extent of the work that needs doing?
-
hi m8,
lets see the pics then i can see whether i can be of help.

whatever you do DO NOT buy a gassless mig, just dont, and dont learn to weld on mot stuff it will fail! unless you are good straight off.
why buy gassless and make it hard for yourself as they are a nightmare, buy gass bottles, and if you do that much welding get a proper bottle.
dont want to sound totaly negative, but you can get some real crap advice sometimes, and i dont want you to spend a day messing about getting stressed with a welder, doing a crap job just to get a fail.

Guys, sorry, been offline a weee while... thanks to those making offers, I'll try to get pics done tomorow and post them.
Those encouraging me to elarn to weld... I have every intention to do so... but not at the moment... too much else going on!
In particular... Gaurdian... I'm with you matey... opting for good hobby gas mig welder when the time comes.
Thanks guys.

Guys, here are pics of the welding I need doing.
I have a whole new sill... so depending on effort... it may be best to replace the whole thing?

In order to get it through the MOT, a quick patch job on the sill would do. Once you are au fait with a welder you could replace the sill. Same with the door pillar really, although I'm sure that the Disco I had looked pretty much the same and passed.
Anyone advise if that part would be a failure?
