Title: 35's On A Disco 5dr
Post by: UK CRAIG on January 11, 2008, 12:22:21
Has anybody out there got a 5dr Disco with 35" tyres????????

I have a Disco 1 with a 2" lift and 31" BFG muds, I want to go to 35", I was wondering if someone had a similar car and could tell me what else I will have to do to accommodate 35" tyres on a 5dr???

Any help will be great.

Cheers

you'll need to cut wings and rear doors and probably need arches too.

it is doable, ive seen such a thing. no pics tho sorry. killer discos gallerey on devon 4x4 may have something. but you would have to go to strengthend halfshafts and diff pegging, whilst there doing that its an idea to change the diff ratio if your going that big! not a nessesaty but probibly best.

I HAD 35'S, HAVE TO CHOP A FAIR BIT OFF EVERYWERE, PLUS THEY ARE SLOW OFF THE MARK YOU WILL NEED TO TWEAK YOUR PUMP REALLY, BUT Other than that they are ok, and yes the do look well high. one of ours on 33's is much easier with a 2" lift just a bit of trimming really unless your gonna go off and do something extreme.

whats beats me 35s on a 2 in lift only give 2 inch extra in clearence plus more stress on drivetrain . plus ur talking over a grand in bits so why not just lift it by 2 inch with a body lift or spring spacers :-k

what! you get more clearance than that! and if you put the bigger tyres on you get better approach/departure/ breakover angles. anyways 2" is alot really!

The main reason larger tyres are fitted is...
- Lift the diff (or lowest part of the transmission) higher to avoid getting hung up.
- Improve approach & departure angles
- Look good  :afro:

I have 35's one my five door Disco 1, I have a 2" suspension lift + a 2" body lift. I also have wheel spacers fitted.

seems to work OK.
