Title: timing belts

can anyone reccommend anyone in b'ham to do a cam belt change on my 300tdi,
I would do it myself but the last time I did one on an astra it lasted 200 miles before it snapped :oops:

Hes Midlands based too (emailed him about the 200 tdi and he said Â£180)

Post by: andygod on January 13, 2008, 11:05:39: Just depends on whether you want to learn to maintain your own vehicle in a friendly environment and also save loads of cash, or if you want to pay a mechanic top dollar to do the job for you and know nothing about the vehicle you drive.

But seriously the 300 is less hassle than the 200, you will be surprised, make sure you get the kit though not just the belt

I do mine every 30000 miles to be on the safe side......, unless it breaks first. A lot depends upon condition's, i.e. if you regularly remove the wading plug and let it dry out correctly, or you don't fit a plug and get it wet, or a seal goes and it gets contaminated, etc, etc, etc......
