how do chaps
can anyone reccommend anyone in b'ham to do a cam belt change on my 300tdi,
I would do it myself but the last time I did one on an astra it lasted 200 miles before it snapped
-
Can you not do it yourself, it's not that difficult?
How to replace the timing belt on a 300TDi engine-

Come along to a West Midlands meeting and learn when our maintenance weekends are
Loads of people on hand to :help:/assist with this type of maintenance.

SOLIHULL MICK seems to be the site Guru..
Or theres a guy on ebay offering a similar service

Hes Midlands based too (emailed him about the 200 tdi and he said £180)

Just depends on whether you want to learn to maintain your own vehicle in a friendly environment and also save loads of cash, or if you want to pay a mechanic top dollar to do the job for you and know nothing about the vehicle you drive.
-
I'll try and get along to the next meeting :)
the last landy engie I did anywork on didnt have anything as modern as belt
-
Give it a go (This from a person who got someone else to do his 200 )
But seriously the 300 is less hassle than the 200, you will be surprised, make sure you get the kit though not just the belt

what are the replacement intervals i have a 200tdi

what are the replacement intervals i have a 200tdi Thanks
I do mine every 30000 miles to be on the safe side......, unless it breaks first. A lot depends upon condition's, i.e. if you regularly remove the wading plug and let it dry out correctly, or you don't fit a plug and get it wet, or a seal goes and it gets contaminated, etc, etc, etc......
-
Recommended change interval is 72,000 miles or 5-years, whichever comes first. Half that if the vehicle is used hard or in adverse conditions.
