I just got my gps dongle through and all I need now is Tom Tom, Memory Map Or FUGAWI!
Which do you recon is the best and where should I get it from?
Cheers Mike

I use Fugawi, but Memory Map seems more popular. Unfortunately I don't have a full copy of Memory Map so I can't test it properly (with the GPS).
I have heard that you can get 1:25k maps for Fugawi that are brilliant. I have the 1:50k which are pretty good, but miss out a lot of forestry trails and some of the RoW are misclassified.

MM for me :)

I thought this topic was going to be the joke about the where the FUGAWI tribe in Africa! :D
-
If you need/want to share routes then you would be better off with MM;
Maps of the uk are available in 1:50 & 1:25 photograhic ariel overlays etc.
If you only require it for yourself then Fugawi is a good option, if i remember correctly,
you can scan any scale map into Fugawi. Correct me if im wrong.( Cant find mine at the mo )
You can share info with other Fugawi owners but not between Fug & MM
Fugawi is Also cheaper.

I have both MM and Fugawi ......no bloddy use here though

Can a Tomtom Go be used with Fugawi???

I thought FUGAWI was a swearword

There's the legendary plight of the now-extinct Fugawi Tribe, who lived in the savannahs where the grass grows over five feet high. Unfortunately, the Fugawi's were pygmies who stood no taller than four feet high. So, after the hunt was over, the pygmies would walk home jumping all the while above the grass, "Where the <edit> (http://www.mud-club.com/forum/index.php/topic,42831.0.html) are we? Where the <edit> (http://www.mud-club.com/forum/index.php/topic,42831.0.html) are we?"
The first white explorer to find them misheard and thought they were saying 'We are the Fugawi'.....and that is how the tribe got their name.

Ebay, both are available as genuine items on a regular basis.
What are you going to run these on?
Laptop or a PDA?
-
On a Sony Vaio laptop. Does this make a difference?

Just looking at Memory Map options - I have a small pile of maps already but only the demo version of the reader. If I bought this:
http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk/memory-map-v5-britains-national-parks-os-150000-description.html
Would it bag me a full copy of the Memory-Map OS/Navigator/Reader/whatever it's called?
-
wouldnt like to say if it would give you navigator or not, best to ask GPS.
Navigator is only needed for pocket pc, if you run on laptop im sure you wouldnt need navigator.
-
Fair enough - I'm not too well up on Memory Map. Fugawi included all the bits for a palm PC so I'd rather assumed MM would too. I've ordered the software in the link though so will see what happens. A friend of a friend who leads school mountaineering parties seems to think that whichever version you buy you get a full version of the reader that will work with all MM maps.

To cover the other area of your question.....
Tom Tom is road sat nav. Memory Map and Fugawi are both mapping software. Very different things.
Use TT to find your way on tarmac and one of the others for laning.
