my disco 200tdi as got gremlins in my tank :? :? :?
anything over a quarter off a tank off full and she runs fine , get blow that and runs like a bag off p**
not the full pump or filter {new} . drained pot at back near full tank .
would it be crud in the tank :? :?
thanks

sorry cant spell    fuel

I would suggest you try running it with a 1/4 tank and the fuel cap open, it could well be a blocked breather and the vacuum is enough to cause fuel flow problems by the time it gets to a quarter of a tank, ever noticed a hiss when you release the cap to fill up??
Not an uncommon problem so worth checking
Cheers Steve

i have a hiss but only if i use posh fuel (too pricey for my liking, hence not often!)
agree with th above, but could be some cack down the lines....
possibly lift pump? fuller tank gives a bit more head, thus pump under less stres..... try pointing the nose up a hill and see if it makes a difference

My rover 620 has always had a hiss when I open the fuel cap from being full to nearly empty. Would it effect MPG?

as petrol vapurises easily its common to get a hiss opening the cap on a petrol car its overpressure so shouldnt affect fuel flow etc at all, its hard to tell if its a pressure release or vacumn sucking air in in that case.
diesel is far less volatile so a hiss often points to a breather prob causing a vacumn

have you taken the sender unit out? if there is a split at the bottom of the pick up pipe it would cause this problem, all the time the split or hole is under the fuel level its no problem but when it drops below it could be drawing air
