Title: GAS FLOWED HEADS?
Post by: ferret on January 22, 2008, 19:10:16
Is it worth haveing done and does it really make much diference on a 200tdi engine as im removeing it anyway. Also is there anywhere cheaper than turner engineering i could send it.
As im removeing it due to a leaky gasget i thought id get the head reworked at the same time.

I have all my work done a McDonald Landrover just opposite Turner.
The guy who works their  "Mark" used to work for Turner...  Id say hes one of the best.
Tell him that Gary from Norway gave you the details...  that will do his head in.

GAS FLOWING THE HEADS IS JUST A VERY SMALL PART OF A BIG JOB, CAMS, EXHAUSTS, VALVES ETC ETC. POLISHING THE PORTS ALONE WILL NOT HAVE ANY NOTICABLE EFFECT REALLY.
PLUS, WHAT IS THE POINT WHEN THEY WILL ALL SOOT UP AGAIN IN A FEW HOURS RUNNING, IVE SPENT HOURS DOING HEADS FOR  MY CARs in the good old days, and then wondered this very point.

on a 200tdi, it smooths out the power delivery
you dont get the sudden kick that the 200 gives you vs the 300 where its a nice smooth power right up the rev band
ask jamie you say rob....it would help if the 110 was in one piece
hurry up J
am gonna beat you in the re-build race

Well ive already got the big intercooler, tweeked pump, boost turned up,straight through exhaust so do you thing gas flowing the head would be worth it ang how much power increase is there.
also changing the cam ,benefits and disadvantages?

a gow flowed head didnt increase power on my 90
just smoothed out the power delivery
also, i noticed the turbo comes in even earlier aswel
IMO
i wont have another, not worth the 400 notes 2bh
had more fun aswel before with the sudden kick at 1400rpm

the ports were opend up on mine
had to trim the inlet and zaust manifolds
i was going to have the valve guides cut down aswel as there a nice big obstruction
but gain vs reliabilty/life span i decided against
