Title: 300 tdi stalling
Post by: Matt H on January 28, 2008, 17:47:36
I have a R reg 300tdi CSW which has a habit of stalling when the engine is at idle. This only happens about once a month and will restart straight away. I changed the fuel filter, but no difference. I think it maybe something to do with the electrics? Any ideas what I should be checking next?

Any advice of suggestions greatly appreciated.

try tank pick up
crap blocks off pick up, engine stalls so suction is lost on pick up, crap drops off, and fuel pickup is clear and flowing again

that would be my initial thought

Was the fuel filter full to brim when removed??

Check the fuel solenoid connection.  The spade connections have a habit of becoming loose, corroded or damaged.

Is the idle speed high enough?

Have you got the optional LR alarm fitted??

Thanks guys, I will look at the tank pick up and the fuel solenoid connection. Idle speed is fine, engine runs great normally and it has the standard factory LR alarm/immob on it. A local garage changed the filter for me so dont't know if it was full.

I will let you know if it cures it.
