Title: championship results
Post by: Xtremeteam on January 30, 2005, 12:55:14: just got the results for this years slroc championship & i finished 8th overall behind 7 bowlers & infront of 6,finished first in the roadgoins trial class,2nd in the novice class & 2nd in the class 2a (trialsmotors doing rtv's)

Something ide like to have a go at, trials that is. :wink:
:( I think my Rangie is too big to be competative but i wouldnt mind haveing a go, think ill do an rtv this year if i can find any locally and see what its like. :D

Post by: Xtremeteam on January 31, 2005, 19:43:31: my dad used to trial a rangie vv succesfully due to the longer wheel base not falling in 2 holes that stop shorter wheel bases's & also the fact u can get a shunt,the only problem was the bodywork damage but it was only used for play days & trials so wasnt a problem

Don't build a Bowler! Beating Bowler's with production motors is just so satisfying!

You never know you might get to beat my old Bowler at some stage, it now lives in Scotland.

Why not save up to do the Scottish Hillrally this year and come and give me and Mr.Bruce a run for our money!!

If the motor is road legal why not go for the full clubmans option - probably not all that more expensive, I'm sure you could share some service crew/kit/spares with some of the others. That's what we usually do!

Abe Hamilton has my Bowler now - (or at least that's who I sold it to!) out west.

How's he getting on with it? I had it for years, never finished it and then this Discovery turned up at the right money and the right time and almost complete. 6 months later it was on the road and by 8 months I had done my first Hillrally as a driver! :lol:

I'll sort you out some costs and stuff - I don't like to think about it too much, but I think we did it fairly cheaply!

We didn't have all that many useful spares, although took lots of junk that wasn't very useful!

All we carried in the motor was a spare tyre, a hi-lift, a serpentine belt, tow rope, selection of tools incl. wheel brace (important - ask Hugh Haines who lost the Scottish one year for not carrying one on the final stage! :( )

Steering rods are strengthened ones so didn't carry them in the vehicle, but did in the service barge.

In the service wagon, we didn't even have a spare diff, although I had tabs on one I could borrow in an emergency. We had spare rear shafts (obtained the day before), but no front ones.

My profile contains a picture of our service set up in Perth last year. I managed to blag the use of a couple of trailers. One for the racer and one for the junk.

I'll dig out my spares list when I get home and let you have it. I think we went a bit overboard on this first event, we were unsure as how the vehicle would behave, as we had only previously done a few laps at a comp with it. I did opening car on Y Rali Bryn Cymru later in the year and we serviced ourselves out of the back of my blue discovery (without trailer) with my mother delivering it to the service areas for us and we coped fine!

Murky-kid get out and do that trial and have fun, you won't regret it! :D

Post by: Xtremeteam on February 02, 2005, 18:23:49: well for doing comps i take :1 3.54 diff for the front (salsbury out back) 2 long shafts,2 short shafts,2 cv joints,complete set of front axle gaskets x2,2 jerry cans of fuel & fill the motor on the way 2 the event,10 litres o diff oil,5 litres powersteering fluid,some engine oil,oh yeh my dad & any1 else i can bribe with a set of overalls to help :lol:
