When I bought my disco I new the steering box had a weep. But wasnt worried as the on on my 200 Tdi was brand new and it was a four bolt hole the same.I thought no probs it only took me an hour or so to do the job last time.Hell!! was I wrong.Got it off ok ish.But could we get the droparms off to swop them over a lot of heat and the 200 drop arm came off.We ended up cutting the steering shaft off the box but the arm in a vice and heat to glowing to get it off. Then we tried to fit the box on the steering shaft from the wheel didnt want to go back on after removing and prising both end a little bit further apart we got that on.Then tried to refit the pipes the smaller one didnt want to turn .Finally got it off and it looks like I need a new pipe any one know how much they are from Landrover?.Also I found that the two bolts that go through the box from the front are a different size .I cant find the old ones off the 200tdi as bright spark that I am I dropped them on the floor and must have kicked them away.

Thats great thanks. My mate works for a forklift truck firm. And hes going to take me to a hose manufacturer.Use mine as a pattern and see if they will make one .
-
Crikey, I'd have done the same and assumed the 4-bolt boxs are all the same :-k
Though TBH the quickest solution would have been to fit the drag link from the 200 to your 300 for now (plus you could then fit the Defender knuckle with steering damper bracket).

Went today to the hose place they couldnt match the ends. Tried all the local dealers £50 plus vat and no one has them in two day order. :( Found a second hand one that seemed ok for £20 Tried fitting it there is so little room compared to the 200 Tdi.I thought it was going in gave it a little tug and back out it came. The thread was marked so It wouldnt go in.I,ve now ordered one from Steve Parkers Who reckon they can get it by tomorrow and only £38 including VAT.So because of the stupid split shift I,m on I dont know when I will do it.I,m hoping a local garage do the job if I can get a tow. I dont want to drive and end up with a knackered pump as there is no oil in it. It will break my heart to pay some one to work on my car.

I wouldn't recomend driving far without PAS anyway. But it's not a job I like doing, yolu really need 4 hands and there isn't room for them.
-
The car is back together apart from the PAS Pipes.I,m waiting for the call to say the new pipe as arrived. If I can get over there and collect it I can book the car in to get it fitted. The garage is about 1/2 amile from my house .So I dont think it should do much harm.Just not nice to drive.I,m having to drive my mothers Vauxhall Corsa Auto .It might be a 57plate but its horrible :(

Oh, the good old Coarser, yes I hate them too.
For about hlaf a mile there will be enough oil in the pump to protect it, just.
You'll leave a trail of oil spots on the road though

Ive had Landrovers for ten years there isnt a street in the area they havent marked as territory

Got it back this afternoon. It took them two hours to do the pipes as one of them needed a thread file on it.Two hours labour and a litre of power steering fluid £45.I think I got off lightly.
