I need to change the polybushes and the a frame ball joint. The problem is the N/S Bolt has got stuck (I think to the metal tube inside the bush)
I have had WD40 all over it for 24 hours and still no joy tried to leaver the bolt and hit the bracket but still no joy.
Now knowing Mud Club someone has had this problem and fixed it :grin: any ideas?

Cut the bolt on either side of the bush and put a new bolt in. There should be enough room between the bush and chassis bracket to get a hacksaw, or a power saw if you have one, in there. :D

Could try Plusgas rather than WD40 - I find it a lot more effective. Just thinking that might be an easier bet than hacksawing in a confined space!

Ok, I just have to ask - what gave you the inclination to try spraying Plusgas on maggots? It's not something that has ever occurred to me to try!

If the Discovery is the same as a 110, I seem to recall that the bracket can be unbolted from the chassis. This then makes it easier to get at to attack with a hacksaw/gas axe etc, or take it to someone else to separate the components.
It's quite fun driving with a failed A frame bush isn't it :lol:

AFAIK the bracket on the '91 Disco/RRC was bolted on with 3 bolts that you should be able to round off/snap fairly easily.

Its the bolt by the exhaust mount, The big one on the chassis.
Had a go with the air saw but only managed to chew the blad up.

I know the bolt you mean, it's about the biggest bolt used on the suspension. We were wondering it it might not be easier to remove the arm and bracket as one piece then strip it down on the bench, the bracket being bolted on with 3 more humble bolts IIRC.
It's possible that later chassis (the round crossmember type) might have the bracket welded on, if this is the case sorry for the confusion.

Are you certain you haven't got the brackets that RRB and I are talking about, they are the ones numbered 575615 and 575616 on this page http://www.connectstores.com/lr/sp_35906.html
They are also shown, but not numbered on the Discovery parts page at http://www.connectstores.com/lr/sp_35257.html
And as far as I can tell, they're not listed anywhere as being only applicable to a certain range of chassis numbers eg http://www.beamends-lrspares.co.uk/BeamEnds/DiscoveryI/Suspension/RearAFrame/index.html

Had a look and mine is the tube tipe welded on :cry:

Thanks Range Rover Blues. I will give that a go in the morning. Never been beaten like this before and I rebuilt my 1969 2b forward control.

If you have a decnt tool shed around DREMEL sell a hard cutting disk like a cut-off disk that will last a lot longer, or if you have access then a cut-off tool (air tool) might be easier to get in than LR special tool No.2, (the angry grinder).
Worst comes to worst, trash the arm and cut through it, you'll feel better you know you will, and put a S/H arm on.

When I had a similar problem doing all my suspension bushes I found (on EvilBay) 1mm cutting discs for an angle grinder, they are quite fragile sideways (!!) but are effectively as "narrow" as a hacksaw blade and make light work of cutting bushes out, but do buy a couple extra.....

Yup cutting disk on the grinder, oxy acetelene cutter and alot of a nightmare.
I am feeling your pain.
We had to do it the day before the Baja GB when we found some play. Managed to trash two bolts and the front to back brake pipe. That was quite alot to do in one evening. Why is it you always find these things at the last minute. I'd been working on the car for weeks!
