Anyone thinking of going this year may want to read this:

‘Salon du 4x4’ in Val D’Isere – the big fall out?
by Caroline Face | Ski News Reporter | published 31-Jan-2008
Things look like the could get messy in Val D’Isere because of a fall out over the 4x4 Expo which usually takes place in the resort in the summer.

The original founders of the show, the Audhoui family, has been organising the event every year since 1984 with Val D’Isere acting at host town. However, things took a turn after the 2007 show, when the Audhoui group hinted their intention to move the show elsewhere for 2008, claiming the town of Val D’Isere was being increasingly unco-operative and not keen to have an ‘environmentally unfriendly’ event in resort.

Now it seems Val D’Isere is organising their own 4x4 exhibition event, planned for summer 2008, with the same marques, same test centres and same ideas as marketed by the exhibitions organised by Audhoui. The Audhoui family agrees Val D’Isere has the right to organise an exhibition event, but are dismayed that they have chosen a 4x4 theme, given the commune’s complaints over the Audhoui 4x4 event.

In the meantime, the group says that the marketing, concept and branding of their could be up for sale, but no-one from the commune of Val D’Isere has contacted them.

The Audhoui family is looking into organising an event in Grenoble from the 24th May to 1st June 2008, whilst the Val D’Isere organised event looks set to take place in early August.

I had heard rumous of problems.

Strange that 'the town of Val d'Isere' is voicing concerns over the ‘environmentally unfriendly’ 4x4's  :-o A ski resort is hardly the most environment friendly place, what with all those diesel powered lifts etc. And have you ever seen the mountain sides of a ski resort without the snow.....not pretty.

And before anyone asks, yes I do Snowboard. :D

Stranger still that they bitch about the "environmentally unsuitable" event then *** their pants when all that tourinst money threatens to go somewhere else.

***** french, that's why I never go there.

Don't drink their wine either, might buy some, if I was really short of screenwash.

I don't think it's got anything to do with them being French.
I think it's more to do with people pandering to the growing 'Anti-4x4' propaganda that seems to be spreading across Europe.
More & more 4x4 events are being affected & more & more restrictions are being put on Greenlaning in Europe.  :x
I've had many a fantastic holiday in France, both summer & winter holidays & found the people I met to be friendly, helpful & accommodating.

It doesn't sound too dissimilar to the goings on with Billing  last year.
