TBH I was dissapointed.  I really enjoyed life on mars, it was different and quite edgy.  Ashes to ahses is a cliche of itself, and I found her character damned annoying, though I think she's a damn good actress (I got Spooks for Christmas ;))

To put it in perspective BBC showed the last episode of life on mars straight after it, I enjoyed the re-run more

Best quote was
'I could Kiss You'
"Don't Hold Back"

BUT (nerd time) Vienna by Ultravox came out in 1983 or very late '82 not Early June '81 so they couln't have been singing along to that on the boat.

I have to say as someone who grew up in the 80's, I don't remember many women dressed like Keely Hawes's character. The girls I knew  were all in rah rah skirts and had wedge haircuts like the girls from the Human League.Mores the pity, but then again in 1981, I was 13 and my mind was still fixed on stuff like Airfix kits, going to the local wasteground on my bike to mess around in the mud, blowing stuff up with fireworks and other such devillish tricks.
25 years + later and not much has changed, apart from swapping the bike for a Landy and I have since discovered alcohol and nicotine.
Some of the music was good, apart from Joe ruddy Dolce, may he burn for ever in eternity!

Do you mean you prefer ladies with shape and curves rather than the Size 0 beanpoles that seem to be the requirement set by the fashion industry? I most wholeheartedly concur!

:DRange Rover Blues is right about the new series being a cliche of itself, but enjoyable anyway.  Took a while for me to realise the significance of the clown, its from the Ashes to Ashes video.  As for Keely's outfit I really don't remember anything like that,  I was 10 at the time.  Its great that you guys thought her legs were "too skinny" because myself and I am sure other ladies were experiencing "thigh envy"!

I was 11 and remember 83 better, it was big hair. I remember my mate sister using a can of hairspray before she went out. :D
They were good days :D But yes, hope they never come back.

It wasn't just the girls with the big hair that defied gravity. The blokes had it as well. It was the decade of Hair (and Lip Gloss) Rock with bands like Europe, Scorpions, Def Leppard and Whitesnake to name but a few.
At my school there was horrendous rivalry between the 2Tone/Ska and the Metal Lot. The New Romatic lot kept themselves to themselves, usually in the toilets doing their makeup. That was the boys and the girls.

Big Hair!

1981 was the year Charles and Diana got married and I know a lot of my school mates had their hair cut just like Princess Di then! As for the boys, well Flock of Seagulls were becoming well known then so just imagine :D I think what Keeley was wearing when she first arrived was supposed to be what a prostitute was wearing back then though from what was being said so unless you had dealings with them are you really going to remember people wearing that sort of thing  The white leather jacket was definately very 80's my sister had something very similar
