Right the rev counter works when it wants. Dip the clutch at a junction and it works lift the clutch drive off and it goes to zero :|

Dodgy connection on the back of the alternator.  The engine moving when you take up drive is all it takes.

theres a wire that goes to the back of the alternater,the connecter comes loose,probaly need to put a new female connecter on so its tight,i think

remove, bit of sandpaper, refit, bit of WD40... and bobs yer wife! :wink:

most likely the 'W' terminal. mine was the same, removed and refitted it and no problems now

i has the same problem with the connector on back of alternator, i tried the clean existing trick a few time, but in the end put a new connector on and all been fine since.
