just out of pure interest on where to go this year, wheres ur favorite pay and play sites or other?
my no. 1 choice would be kirton (k.o.r.c) http://www.korc.co.uk/ (http://www.korc.co.uk/)
no.2 would be cowm http://www.cowmleisure.com/ (http://www.cowmleisure.com/)
-
i dont have a favorite as i break the landy what ever one i go to  :'(
-
Tong aka Parkwood...
Seven sisters would possibly be but keep getting cursed and missing events....
-
Yep Tongs ace
-
Cowm is good. Didn't like Briercliffe (near Burnley) as there didn't seem to be much organisation. Too many mad zukes flying this way and that [-X
-
hmm contorvertial. i wasnt a fan of either tong or cowm. With tong it seemed that way too many people have been caning it roung with 35" tyres cutting massive ruts and everywhere i tried to go on 235/85r/16's i just ended up sat on my diffs. the rest of the place was just way too easy.
Cowm is a bit rockey but not too bad, last time i went o was one of the 1st ones there, broke m front diff within 20mins of paying my £25 so i left and they still charged me for a jetwash!!!

You definitely wouldn't loke Briercliffe. Tried there in a Freeby and it was alot worse than Cowm.
-
I ripped the exhaust off my discovery at devils pit, and rammed some one at tixover, devils gets a bit boring after 15mins though :( :'(
-
Kirton without a doubt.
Something for everyone, and you don't keep getting stopped because the motor in front is stuck. That's the advantage of a massive site.
Pete.
-
nobody has mentioned either frickley or langdale, both imho excellent sites.
-
Manby isnt to bad either :D
Cheers Gav
-
tixover is good out the back
and whaddon as the place is big and boggy
-
I loved Trentam but seems closed nowdays.
nice water and huge climbs
-
me and a mate are gonna do farley at the end of the month and frickley soon after so hope they turn out good
done sibbertoft but didnt think much to it at all, small and busy,
been up to k.o.r.c quite a few times now and theres still loads i havent driven, that plance is a wonder land in a 4x4
theres a big place in the new forest that i would like to visit but cant remeber the name of the place now

That'll be Muddy Bottom then I think, out at Ringwood? Not been there myself yet but as its just up the road from me I WILL make the effort to get there at some point.
Of the few places I have actually been to, I've gotta say Tong would be my choice, evne if I did kill my 110 when I went...theres plenty of stuff to get stuck into (literally) and we didn't even drive everything in the one visit.
Frickly left alot to be desired, but that might have been because of my cousins reluctance to drive through anything where the water was over 6" deep!
Manby was good to, but I only went around once before I knackered my Handbrake and had to start limping home so I couldn't really see how good it was.
Aston Cantlow isn't too bad, though its not strictly a PaynPlay site open to the public, more a site used for events by MROC, amongst others.
I really mut get up to the Army Experience place in Birmingham soon, I keep not having a road legal/working motor when I remember about it!
-
Langdales good if you dont want to break anything :D
-
My money is on Cowm. I've been there recently (30th December) and thoroughly enjoyed it, with the specifically and well laid out course. The green (easy) route is also interesting enough to get the hairs standing on some people's backs.

whaat are you guys insane? they stuck me on the green route cos i was in a standard 110, wasted a good hour of my day following a guy round. there was a hilux surf (of all things) that only noticed he was still in 2wd untill about 10 mins in!
I might go again next time i can because it might have changed since last year.
I went to frickly not long since and enjoyed it, plenty of mud so good fun if you have proper tyres on, can imagine it being great on a/t's. Cowm better for all treeaind cos its a bit firmer in a lot of sections.
-
Well iv'e not even done one yet and this post makes me feel like billy nomates.
I have seen the guys who run kirton at last years donnington4x4 show and found out about there site had a chat and thought yep i'm gonna go then i got busy with work then the year was over and now i will soon be a dad so the next 3 to 4 mouths is a no no for me .So the next time anyone is going for a trip to kirton from around my part of the world pm me because i would love to come.Just not keen on turning up as billy no mates.
I only live up the road from tixover ,whats that like?
-
Just go and say hello everyones friendly :D
-
and dont bother going to langly farm LR show just for the off road course. the marshall said to me on the way in 'well you wont be needing your roll cage' and i thought how dare you!!!! dont tell me i dont need it, if i want to roll it then i bluddy well will mister!!!! but he was right, just a track round a mowed grass field.
-
What offroad course?............oh you mean that procession thro the woods with a splash at the end.............sorry when i went i must have blinked and missed it
-
everyone said 'oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo dont go in the bog hole'
what a load of crap, it was a concrete bottomed water trough, the only challenge was stoping youe engine hydraulic'ing.
someone went round the course in a peugeot estate, he could have done the bog hole too with a bit of duct tape and the flexi off a dyson vac.
-
we went last year, the auto jumble was naff too.......all disco bits and series bits and a load of scrap
-
I guess by some of the posts that not all 4x4 site are 4x4 sites then.

If you say you have not been before, then they show you around the green route. After that, they let you go on your merry way. It's advisable to be in a pair of vehicles though, if not more, incase one happens to get a little stuck and it can be a while before a Marshal gets to you to pull you out of trouble (let alone having another person is handy since some places need a spotter).
I went all around the red route no problem in my standard 2A 88. The only thing that I would have liked for the steep and long ascents would be a bit more power, as I was in first low on those steep long ascents. :-o

STUCK!!!!!!! on langley farm???? are you avin a laugh???there was 40k range rovers going round without a scratch on em when I went last and a bloke on a moped
