I have a 1991, disco 1 with an issue on opening the rear door. on unlocking the vehicle with the central locking, all the doors unlock as usual, including the rear door (as the plastic spiggot pops up). On trying to open the door it stays shut as if locked. okay sticking lock, its nounlocking correctly, so i manually unlock it with the key on the rear door lock. it remains solidly shut, even though the lock has clearly been unlocked. therefore i then climb into the boot vis the back seats, and try opening the door from the inside, with a gentle shove with my sholder. Nothing again happens.
It does open as i threw my spare l/r steel rim in there last weekend. but its seems like its welded shut. its a matter of urgency as i need to change the brake light as its blown, and last thing i want is to be pulled over by the police and obtain some points/fine!
Is it an easy fick, and how do i go about doing it? this has happened previosly but always around the time of a service, so my local garage has fixed the problem, but lack of funds means i need to do it myself!
thanks

Pop out the Land Rover logo on the rear door handle and lubricate the mechanism :P
It really is that simple :) Hope this helps (the logo pops out easily - I used a normal eating knife!)

there is a small spring that breaks inside the lock mechanism costs about £5 or so and takes 30 mins to replace

lol or if like mine 3 months and then it wasnt the spring the motor was naff hehehhe

Try pulling the up on the button inside the door, while opening it from the inside. If this works, it's the spring.
If not. Green oval out, plenty of WD40 or similar, while working the external hande back and forth.
Pete.
