Has anyone fitted one of these and if so does it increase the exhaust note or alter the performance in anyway?

makes better sound and surposed to give better performance, first mod i did to mine
-
Wifey has one fitted to her 90 TD5, sounds slightly growlier and has more of a turbo whistle,
As for performance :-k Definately no worse probally better if anything
-
fitted one to my mates 200tdi, it was janspeed, and gave the exhaust note a nice low grunt. As for power nothing noticable, but growl from the exhast is definatly deceiving. If you really want to play sweet music, up the boost on your turbo
-
:lol:yes turn up boost on turbo too one bar and fit big intercooler ,then it will go well

I need a new pipe for our RRC TDi as someone has "rearranged it" for me. I'm thinking of a stainless/performance system depending on how much is damaged.
So, anyone like to recomend a particular brand?
-
I have just put one on my 110 td5.Cab noise is more but it sounds better
-
I replaced the front pipe with a non cat - and that gave it better pull from low revs.
not sure about the mid section.

Go for either a Twisted Performance or Janspeed Sports pipe if you can afford it, JE Engineering and Rimmer Bros do good exhausts too. I've a rimmer ss on my 2.5td 90 (helps hide the fact its not a tdi) and my next door neighbor has a janspeed on his 200tdi. Admittedly the janspeed sounds alot deeper and embarrasses boy racers (worth the money just for that )

anyone know who supplies janspeed apart from scorpion? is there a pipe that can be used to take out the rear silencer as well that can use the existing hangers?

get it direct from www.JanspeedShop.co.uk (http://www.JanspeedShop.co.uk), Just get an intermediate pipe and weld the hanger to it. Someone will do it tho with all the strait throughs out there

Apologies for the length of the reply... Attached is a quote and pictures I received from Longlife Powermaster. Getting one fitted when the bonus arrives :D:
We are the people to supply and fit a Stainless Steel Exhaust to your Landy TD5. All our systems come with a LIFETIME GUARANTEE so it is fit and forget. The combination of the quality grade stainless that we use (T304) and the full free flow system will transform the vehicle. Powermaster exhausts are Engineered for optimum exhilaration, our systems have a genuine performance edge, noticeable power gains, sounds that are truly awesome, styled looks that are aggressive but discrete and a feeling of truly exhilaration. With over 20 years of continuous exhaust development and technical expertise,Longlife Powermaster is placed at the forefront of tuning companies and owners must have lists.
The cost for a custom British built T304 stainless cat back system, together with mirror polished tailpipes would be £289 including vat, including fitting and is guaranteed for life.
The system comes with a choice of 15 different tailpipes from 2â€to 5†oval round and slash cut ,We have over 87 other tail pipe designs to choose from if you fancy something designer, such as jap-style, blue flame, twins, acoustics and letterbox styles. Unlike other fabricators our tail pipes are not pre welded to the rear silencer which gives you the ultimate flexibility in your choice of style of tail pipe and also allows you to choose the sound that you want from the car. These can be viewed at tailpipes.co.uk .
Hand-building and fitting your custom made system takes approximately 5 hours (around 2 for a back box only) by appointment at our Leeds centre. We have courtesy vehicles which you are quite welcome to use so that you can nip off and do other things whilst we attend to your car.
Because all of our systems are hand made and custom built on site , you are able to tell us how you would like the car to sound, anywhere from quiet to full sport. The most popular choice is Mild Sport, which gives a slight note when you open the accelerator, yet without being intrusive.
The benefits of a Longlife Stainless Steel Exhaust include improved engine performance and greater fuel economy. This is achieved by fabricating all our exhaust systems on a full free flow principle which means that your engine operates more efficiently. You will immediately notice an increase of around 15 BHP and 10% MPG and the car will have more torque making it more responsive at bottom end revs.
When you arrive, before work commences, you will be talked through the system design and fitment. You will also be given a choice of sound, from quiet to sporty, or somewhere in between. We can also ‘offer up’ a selection of tail pipe designs to your car to help you make your choice.
After our work is completed the exhaust will undergo a thorough 12 point quality check, to make sure it is clean, there are no leaks, and the fit is perfect, it will then be tested for sound. Don't forget our exhausts are guaranteed for life and are made with only British and Italian T304 non Magnetic 2mm wall thickness Stainless Steel , so you can truly fit it and forget it, unlike other systems built from lower quality imported t409 stainless from China or Korea. It’s the difference between Gold and Gold Plated.
I have sent some photos of our recent work so that you can see the quality of the product .
We may be beaten on price but remember “You only get what you pay forâ€.

Fitted one from Paddocks improve low end performance make a nice growl when you put your foot down. Surprisingly quieter at 70mph put that down to sound not being released under vehicle by silencer slight improvement to MPG to but put that down to the lack need to put my foot down to get anywhere. Watch the boost pressure it is noticeable that it come in lower down the rev band hence the more power low down. [-X

Oh crikey, now I"ve got problems :( :(.
Taken the middle section off today and both bolts on the front downpipe collar have sheared off. What a stupid design to have permanently fixed pins instead of loose bolts through holes (like the rear one).
So what do I do now?. Only thing I can think of is to grind the pins off and try to drill the collar or cut it off completely and try to get someting like this.
