I take it you mean 2 brake pipes. if so either run a 2nd brake line from one calliper to the other. or remove the brake pipe all together and fit a blanking plug a bleed nipple with the hole welded shut.  will probably do it

most people use a t piece similar as that fitted to rear axle
why fit a butter axle of a disco to the 90 though  :-.

I'm confused post 1990 90's and disco's share the same axles it's only the the 110's that have a salisbury axle.

yes just 't' them do not chop and weld 1, that would have catastrophic concequences (bet thats spelt wrong), the brakes should have both pots on the caliper working not just 1 side.

yep its a failsafe, there would be no pint if they both went to the same thing would there???

yep ive just come back to retract my statement after the lightbulb went on lol. im thinking of the fronts. yes as the rear is not a floating caliper it has to have 2 functioning pistons. never done awt with landy rear discs but will soon, 300tdi disco axles on the way!

same casing...
different stubs, cv's, hubs and caliper mounts
oh and the 90s had a railko bush at the top instead of twin taper bearings

Is that on the 200TDi Defender or the 300?

BTW an ABS Disco/RRC axle also has Railko bushes like the Defender.

Personally I'd just keep the callipers that you already have but use the new disks, unless your callipers are serioulsy damaged, then sell the "new" callipers to get some money back.

Sell the axel, you'll get £300 to £400 for it. Then put the money towards a td5 axel, solid as a rock (well almost)

For £300 to £400 I'd expect all the ancillaries to still be attached. You know like chassis, engine, gearbox, body etc etc.

For around 400 you could get a toyota axle (you will need 2 thought) complete with factory fitted diff lock. You've got to make it fit, but since when was than an excuse

I'd be interested in that - my 130's being a pig and it's going to be quicker to put an axle on than rebuild the other one for the time being.  Have you any pics?

it was ok, only changed it as i put new engine, box and transfer in my 110, then see some new rears going for sensible money, then scouting around got a new front for about 1300 so thought might aswell have that as well.
it drove ok steers ok was just changed for the sake of it, so i new the one we rebuilt isnt gonna give me any major aggro for a few years.(thats a joke!)

There's still lots of people out there who think landy's (well any 4x4) are still fetching top dollar prices. Early discos have halved in value over the last 18months. as a result the price of 2nd spares has plummetted as well.

But it has you can pick up a tdi engine for £250 to £300, or buy a disco for £500 and scrap whats left. By the time you've sold all the bits you may even make some money on the deal.

YOU WILL NOT GET A defendertdi for that though, i just sold one for £550 and he was well chuffed and a que of people at that money!
its different to the discovery tdi.
but you are right about the discos they are either new or scrap now there is no inbetween.

Aye but it doesn't take much to fit a disco engine in a defender. Does it? I know what you mean about defender engines there's a thread on LZ about this. where a dealer is selling disco engines for £400 and defender engines for £900. but the best bit is he's advertising disco 300tdi engines £750 Defender 300TDi engines £1250.  [-X There the same engines, for gods sake.  :x :x

thats the sad thing about being at uni, on a strict budjet.

Will have to see if Landrover lets me borrow one of their engines when I go and work for them soon ;)
