If you have a dog/ ever get a dog and poop scoop after it, please dont put it directly into your compost bin with a lump of concrete in a bag under grass cuttings to hide it, [-X you know you are contaminating your bin and we WILL spot that concrete and pull it out and even worse whilst getting our hands under the bag you know what will happen to that 3 inches of poop scoop next to it.
And yes, we do smear it all over the handles of your bin to teach you a lesson! 1 pair of new gloves gone in the bin today.
Rant over.

Oh don`t start me on bin men  We have 2 wheelie bins, one pink sack and 2 boxs
Why is it when I put them out on the pavement nice and neat, the bin men throw them all over the pavement after they have emptied them ? Lot count of the days I played hide and seek for the lids off the boxes.
-

Ditto. I cable tie my lids to my boxes now!!! Never a lost lid again and easily spottable when playing hide and seek as nobody else has thier lid attatched to thier bin. ;)
-
Good idea that ! Can I make holes in the lids and boxes tho?
-
Wait until they start put micro chips on them so they can change us for what we tip.Of course our council tax won't cover that will it.
My bin man would empty mine once becasuse he said that it was'nt on the road.
It was on my path 1" from the road as i was trying to trap it against the fence post to stop it blowing down the street as when i went to work it was very windy. So now i just plonk it out in the wind and let it fall over and half of it blows down the street.I contacted the council to ask them what i should do and they said put it out as the mobile bin men with there trollys would pick up any loose rubbish blowing around.
One word WASTE OF MONEY.
-

I have. Just drill them. I expect they will get blown out into the road and run over by a passing car before the council do any searches
-
I like the bin men, they wave at my son who always watches from the window, he loves their big trucks.
-
How many of you have fortnightly collections ? Main bin one week and all the recycling the next ? Never done so many trips to the skips
-
Yep spent alot of time at the tip myself , must be the worst idea ever that one :x
-
its not the bin men its the pilocks (round our way) that fill um. theres 4 in our family and we recycle and ocasionaly go to the tip . the pilock over the road theres two of them in there house have so much rubbish they top everyone elses bin up . makes me mad . i now take my bin out in the morning because of this. thing is iff they start to dispose by the weight and chipping them iff it ever happens, that means we will be paying for people like him..alan..

Been going on here for years mate, except slightly different here.
Main bin everyother week and compostables bin fortnightly too but recycling is taken every week by a 2nd lorry.
Works very well here I think.
I live here with a lodger and so far in my main bin after a week is a loaf wrapper with a yoghurt pot and an orange skin and a crisp wrapper in which was my lunch box wrappers from work where the lorry I was in on Friday didnt have a bin inside andit was a compostables week so couldnt chuck it in the back. The rest is all recycled. We have about 1 carrier bag of black bin rubbish per fortnight.
-
We have a pink bin for the garden waste, an ordinary grey bin for general waste and we will be getting a brown bin for paper and cardboard and a blue bin for plastic and glass.
Wonderful
-
Sounds great to me mate. The more recycling going on the better this country will be. I never used to be a recycling nerd but now I have seen how fast the landfill site fills up I am shocked and recycling as much as possible.
 to your council
-
im proud to say that huddersfield has one of the highest recycling rates in the country.
sod all of it is down to me though lol.
-
dont menchion bin men to me thy thought it a good idea to mis out 3 colections of our bin in a row but why no one knows it wasent over full the first week buy the 3rd time it was everywhere so some poor missed colection guy turned up to pick up 4 weeks rubish
have a green bin for garden waste too makes a gr8 wheel barrow for my logs why i want a bin for garden waste i dont know when i have 20 acres and a compost heap? maybe thay missed our bin cus thay didnt get a xmass fiver off us?

What's the point of recycling to save our planet when our stuff is being shipped to china and we are bringing in stuff from belgium?
-
its not the bin mens fault, its probably the bosses who sit at the big desk who make the decesions not the chaps doing the hard work on the street.
-
went for job as a "refuse collector" once....the pay was RUBBISH...get it...bin men...rubbish
-
O dear shall i hand you your coat or can you get it your self.

When I lived in bromley if you wanted garden waste taken away you had to put it in a special bag that would cost £1 each this was to pay for having it taken to some composting site. I cleared my overgrown garden into these expensive bags as it was a smoke free zone and we were not allowed to burn stuff either. A few months later it came out in the papers that bromley council were sending the "compost" bags to a landfill along with all the other rubbish. I wrote to them they never gave my money back though :(
I'm now in medway where we dont have wheelie bins and have to use black bags out in the street so the foxes get to have a messy rummage once a week :?
-
On the subject of bin contents..... our neighbour obviously didn't read the blurb when the council introduced recycling bins. We can only put plastic bottles, paper, card and tins in them. No yoghurt cartons or other plastic products. Next dorrs bin was overflowing with carrier bags full of stuff.... they even had a plastic childs seat on the bin once! I've noticed this doesn't happen now, so I guess they have been warned!
We have fortnightly collections, but we buy so little packaged goods that we only put the recycle bin out every month. The other one only gets about half full in a fortnight.
If you don't buy junk, you won't need to throw it away.
-
i am all in favour of recycling.with the Land Rover fleet forever growing i am recyling more decomposed dinosaurs than 2 years ago.
on a serious note,(g#)we in east cambs do not have the benifit of big wheelie bins of different colours like banbury all we have is a paper sack and a plastic box thats collected by 2 different lorries every other week.household rubish is collected weekly

Think yourself lucky, our bin men take great delight in blocking my driveway with mine, they drag it 15 feet or more from where I leave it and dump it right in the middle of my driveway, if i'm in I have to shift it to get out, if I'm out I have to stop in the street and move it. More than once they've hidden it under the back of the car so that I nearly hit it. Once I drove over it on purpose.
Oh, and if I find the binmen have been wiping dog **** overt the bin handles I'll be posting it to the council, along with a demand for my council tax back
That said, the only think going into the green bin should be comost, that's plant matter and cardboard. Even though I know Rotherham only collect it because they can sell it to the farmer behing our house, who's been seen putting a GRP bathtub into that shredding machine and spreading it on the feilds ;)

Why do some people think that garden waste is anything out of thegarden, ie concrete blocks, patio chairs, lawn mowers etc.
-
having six people in our house we have 2 recycling bins and 1 and a half (small one person bin) rubbish bins but its the recycling bins that get full, our dustbin men are ok they put them back where the got them from.
as for dog mess i get it up in a poop bag then tend to put it into a carrier bag as well especially in summer.
