Contemplating putting a new chassis under the 2A. Has anyone got any experience of the difference between Marsland and Richards chassis? The price difference is enough to make me want to know what the differences are.

ask the dearer of the 2 why you should buy theres, and when they give you the bull, phone the others and do the same, and come to your own conclusion, as a chassis can only be a chassis, it can only differ in material thickness really.

They also differ in other slight items (i.e. brake hose mount designs). I don't think there's much between the late 2A and a Series 3 chassis, but there is quite a difference on the early 2/2A chassis compared to the Series 3 chassis.

The price might reflect the amount of time it takes each place to build the thing, so you want to know if that's down to small scale prodiction vs a slick operation, or does it mean more attantion to detail, like all the cut edges being finished off before it's galavnised for example or better provison of drain holes in the box sections.
There is a saying that you get what you pay for ;)

Have used both makes in the past, all about as good as each other, Thinks never line up as they should, a litttle mucking around is needed, but ok on the whole

To stick a marslands under your 63 you'll need a later handbrake linkage as marsland use the late IIA / III setup.
Richards have put a lot more work into making their chassis more accurate to fit the exact landy year.

Wouldn't you say that is likely to be down to just Land Rover tolerances at the factory in the first place? :lol:

I bought a new chassis from Richards, and the quality, thickness of steel used, welds, etc are all fine - I've very happy with it.
