I don't know much about air bags but what i do know is that behind the air bag is a small explosive to make them blow so for god sake be careful playing with it if you don't know what your doing and if the light has come on then that could mean that it more sensitive than normal.

Might be time to take it to a garage on this one.

If the airbag light is on it means the bags will not deploy in  event of an accident. What you'll probably find is that the impact was enough to deploy the Seatbelt pre tensioners(if they have them) but not severe enough to set off the airbag itself. (i am basing this on Peugeot airbags so may not apply).

What you really need to do is get the fault codes read and sort it out!And as has been said already, if you don't know what your doin don't mess with them,it could get very messy!!!

if memory serves there was a similar post to this, some one wanted to fit cruse controle to there disco and was worried about the bags going off
i believe people were saying disconnect the battery for 15mins then look at it but as said before that's not something you want to be dicking about with if you dont know what your doing! im pretty sure my disco doesnt have the bags but i would have removed/disabled them for this reason!

I have had my srs light on now for about 3 years. It came on when the battery got disconnected, so some how your airbags got a loss of 12volts to them?

I have no idea how to reset them either but I have been told that if the srs light is on then they will not deploy at all.

you have most likely knocked the SRS crash sensor fitted on the inner wing on that side of vehicle and the connector has come apart, it will need to go on the Diagnostic equipment to be reset

unless you dont need the Airbags then you can just take the dash out and pull the bulb out, which will get rid of the Light

The airbag lilght should come on when the car is 10 years old anyway to tell you to swap the airbags.  If I ever get the licence for that part of Rovacom it will allow me to dissable/enable the SRS system as I thnk mine has been dissabled, the light doesn't self-test when you switch on :?

Anyhoo, diagnostics is the way to sort it.

Hi there i have just changed my dash on my 300tdi so that the wife now has the grab handle in front of her  instead of the airbag this then left the circuit open as the passenger airbag was no longer there and caused the SRS light to come on. ( if the light is on there is a fault in the system and it shuts down so that it does not go off accidentally  ) All i did was take out the speedo and rev counter and removed the SRS bulbs, this does now mean i have no drivers airbag but that's not always a bad thing  [-o< If you are unsure of your airbag system  :-k i recommend you take it to a specialist but if you are going to give it a go then disconnet the battery for 30Min's before any work is started and remember all airbag wiring is usually yellow or orange   :)
