How many of us have driven past these on the M1 (jct 34) & wondered what the view's like from the top or idly looked over whilst at Meadowhell & thought; "I'd like to go up there"
Well, some of the guys of '28 Days Later' have been up there :shock:
Tinsley Cooling Towers (http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=27436)
Fantastic views, I'm amongst the "I Want To Do It", but that concave section would possibly get the (brown) Adrenoline flowing 8-[
And read the report in the 'The Sheffield Star' (http://www.thestar.co.uk/headlines/Urban-explorers-slammed-for-climbing.3827894.jp)
The comments are interesting...........
Replies 1 & 2 are by the climbers themselves
It's interesting how people agree with them

Amazing photos, scary as hell...
However only do it if you have the kit and knowledge, lots of numpties will get stuck up there!

Got some photos here of me up the disused lift tower in Northampton. Tinsley towers is a good one though, some great photos too.

My own personal thoughts about the climbers are 'The best of British' to them. They did something that would probably cause me to fill my pants. I've seen the 28DL website and I admire what they do and if I'm honest I'm a bit envious. They all seem very professional at what they do, although of course, as a Plod, I don't condone illegal actions, if you see what I mean (party line, blah blah). They don't cause damage to places they go to, unlike the morons who see an empty building as a chance to smash things up and cause chaos.
The only thing that does bother me is that it will be seen in the Press by the local numbnuts (if they can read and are able to drag themselves away from the Jeremy Kyle show) who will try to have a go themselves, fall, get injured and then the whole blame culture circus will roll into town.
That is part of the problem with this country. The adventurous spirit is on the decline. How many times do we hear of stupid idiotic decisions being made by office bound desk jockeys, e.g kids wearing goggles when playing conkers, not being allowed to play with 'gender specific' toys.
Perhaps these bods from 28DL are the 21st centuty versions of Rhodes, Livingstone, Shackleton and Scott? Namely they are prepared to take a risk?

Me too, on both counts :lol:

A bit like the 'take only photographs, leave only footprints/tyre-tracks' ethos

The;
"It's not my fault that I was stupid enough to do something I'm not capable of. Now give me some money to compensate for my own idiocy!!"....... culture

PC gone mad............... Oh,sorry, can't call it 'mad' (in case it offends anyone with psychiatric problems)
