Title: Removing seats
Post by: sleepy straven on February 29, 2008, 16:13:24
Was thinking of removing the four inward facing seats from the back of the 110. They just take up space and are never used together with the fact that they are damn dangerous for anyone in an accident. If I remove them will I need to tell insurance/DVLA ect.
Ta much

as far as i no if you tell the insurance company you have taken them out they then class it as a commercial so dont tell them you have taken them out

Not a problem! and even the commercial bit is a no brainer.

It is only a commercial if you claim the VAT back from the revenue and customs. I had a series with no rear seats for many years that was not considered a commercial.

Why not call your insurance company and say that you are thinking about it and ask them what their position is?

Leave it as-is, that way you're exempt from red-ken's highway robbery.

It's worse than that   Depends how old it is, mines a 1997 and they reckon I'll have to pay £100 a day if I want to drive into the LEZ after October 2010. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/lez/5725.aspx

To be honest you'd probably have to pay me to drive into London, Nottingham is bad enough I don't want to go anywhere bigger or busier.
