Forgot to say that it comes on with ignition and goes out same (ish) time that glow plugs do. Never on when driving.
-
I'd just ignore it then, sounds more and more like a cat heat-up thingy :?

According to my owners handbook it's a catalyst warning light ~ illuminates if the cat has overheated.
"In some markets, brief illumination occurs as a bulb check whaen the starter switch is turned to position 'II'."
HTH :P

Smart Fortwo and Roadsters have this device too (probably loads of cars do) its to help with emmisions, the cats are only effective when running at temperature! and as such are heated when cold and can warn if they get too warm.
-
yes it is a Cat Pre-Heater and warning

looks like a stickle brick :?
-

Too slow to answer, you took 5 minutes and 2 seconds! 5 minutes or less would have been in prize winning territory.
