i am looking to fit some heavy duty springs with up to 25 mm of lift , any ideas or experience springs used on vehicles .

Standard land rover red/white strip springs (aka police spec heavy duty) would suit you requirements and are about the cheapest spring availible for a land rover. They arn't the stiffest of springs though, a set of satandard discovery or heavy duty 90 rears will be stiffer than a red/white and provide a small lift.
If your bodge self leaveling unit is tired, then the discovery or HD 90 springs may be a beeter match, I have red/whites on the rear of my RRC with the bodge SLU removed and thery arn't rearly stiff enough on their own if you going to carry heavy loads. I had about 600kg in the boot over christmas and combined with rear springs on the front my head lifts were some what skywards. With no rear seats and virtually no trim left in it I get around 40mm lift with them unladen.

I'd agree, the front end needs to be heavier than standard so if you#re buying H/D springs then bear this in mind, the back end would benifit from Disco springs but any lift kit will probably be RRC/Disco anyway, they are rated 25% uprated on a Disco and 35% on RRC, the RRC has the Boge unit which most Disco don't have. I've fitted Police specwhcih depending on where they come from include TDi springs for the front even on the V8 and they tend to lift the car 20mm without making it stiffer, so you end up with a rolly polly ride, how on earth te police chased villains with handling like that I don't know.
