ive been told that you cant skim the 300tdi cylender head
is this true and why not???
-
I don't think thats true, I'm sure mine was skimmed after a head gasket failure.
-
I skimmed ours, but then I'm not sure it was succesful. When it comes out of the body shop I have to find oout where it's blowing, already :evil:
I did read in a LR publication manual that the head could not be skimmed, but should be replaced instead. Good job they are cheaper than the 200TDi head then :roll:
-
yes we get them skimmed regularly but it is a full head strip down e.g. Valves, Glow Plugs and Injectors Out
-
i had mine skimmed about 4 months ago due 2 a blocked rad & excessive overheating resulting in a warped head :doh:
been fine eva since
-
Theoretically a heat-treated head (over heating/warping) that's been skimmed should be more reliable than a virgin casting, so I was a little surprised to read in the LR manual not to skim the head.
-
Mine was skimmed a couple of months ago when the head gasket was done. I don't think there's a problem with it now .... d'oh! Tough wood =;

We need s smiley for "fingers crossed"
