my mates td5 disco 52 plate failed to start toninght imobiliser seemed to stay on he reckons horn lights etc going off , operating the key fob wouldn't cure it neither did the spare key, 1 hr later the rac man turned up pressed the key and hey presto no problem , any ideas, i suggested batterys in the fobs first.

yes My mums 300 did this
open it up and check the Solder joints and replace the batteries (not forgeting to follow the replacement guide as some times you have to drain the keyfob before fiting the new batteries i.e. pressing the buttons for 10 seconds each)

the plot thickens we changed the batteries alarm works no problem for 2 days then does it again, over ride manually with the key procedure and no problems it starts, just as we are ready to book it in to main stealer another mate with another td5 parks in the same place and it wont start , push it 10 yrds and it starts , so we must be getting signals from something that are giving problems ( read that on this forum somwhere) problem is the site is half a mile from anything on a smallholding, no phone masts so what else can cause this and what frequency does the alarm work on to look for interference

Could be a poorly sheilded underground HV cable, giving out electro magnetic/static interference.

The last post I read with a similar problem turned out to be a nearby faulty door bell transmitter.

thanks for those sugestions i knew the doorbell type transmitter, there is a wireless doorbell and a wireless transmitter for the lpg tank to give levels back to calor, there is also an under ground cable but its only the 240 line to the garage

:clap: :dance:found it! turned out to be the wireless door bell button was jammed, also found it has affected 3 td5's a transit, a mondeo,and 2 beemers
