hes off to good start then - on pole position for the first gp of the season
and Mr Eyebrows is 12th! ha ha
-
me eyebrows?
the mclarens look quick... but for me, im still a ferrari man!
got my wagers on.... bring on the race!!
R
-
Mr Eyebrows = Alonso Its what Jezza Clarkson called him in his Lewis Hamilton interview on TopGear
-
im no longer a fan of hamilton, not since he started trying to turn himself into some sort of gangsta, hanging round with rappers and driving a merc with big chrome rims (which is also diesel, he is obviously not a car enthusiast). then when he brought a book out i thought he was a right sell out. then he did the advert for some bank or other.
Almost as bad is ewan mcgreggor with that aftershave advert. what a sellout, toatally demoralises long way round, its as if he is saying the fragrance gave him the ability to do it!!!!
GRRRRR
-
yeah good to see alonso at the back... although im sure he will push for a podium finish tomorrow morning...
tbh, i dont have a problem with hamilton, after all he is english and i have to support the english a little!!
but for me, its the ferraris, always has been!
R
-
know exactly what to say about the ferraris - something about them cars and their heritage isnt it.
-
yeh, just awesome machines.
also, had IMO one of the best drivers driving for them while he one nearly all of his championships.... ;)
-
Its a dream start to the season for me
Hamilton on pole, his team mate in 3rd with no Ferrari along side him on the front row
Honda are looking so much better than last year, If Ross Brawn cant save them then no one can ;)
The winging spaniard is no where to be seen    (not really a suprise though)
It has all the promised of being a super season, lets just hope there's not too much politics spoiling it again
:D

It's driving the Merc and doing the adverts that puts money into the McLaren coffers and keeps them racing ~ it's called sponsorship. That "some bank or another" is a major sponsor for McLaren, as is Vodafone. If that's all it takes to keep him and the team in F1 then it's a small price to pay. I was a bit dubious about the book at first but was bought it for Christmas (my wife got it signed by him too ) but it's a really good read and a great insight into his personality. Give it a read.
As for this race, I'm happy to see Alonso down the pack but even happier to see Raikonen there too
-
i suppose i cant really comment as F1 bores me stupid. they hardly ever crash, and its usually only a real race between a few cars.

The Merc, the bank advert, the vodaphone advert etc etc are all part of the sponsorship deal, he had a good year and the sponsors want to capitalise on that, it's the nuture of the beast and you can't blame individuals for how it goes.
As for the book, I heard Lewis on IIRC Radio2 being interviewed, he released the book because there were so many other people trying to speculate on his life to date (manyof them wrong) that he wanted to set the record straight, and besides, he had to have something to do when he wasn't racing.
I can't comment on his friends but I think he has manged to stay out of the press for all the wrong reasons, this year migh reveal his true colours though, but I'll be rooting for him whatever. After all some of the sports best talents were, shall we say "larger than life" characters :-k
-
he is obviously not a car enthusiast
???
-
good luck to him, he is a naturally very quick driver with no fear.
this season will sort the men from the boys as alot of electronics are now banned, the REAL good drivers will shine
-
No traction control means there is a good chance of a lot of crashes also they have removed the brake controllers so now it's down to the driver not the programmer..
This is where I wish schumacher was still in as I would love to see him get his ass kicked by Hamilton
-
Are they allowed to overtake each other yet?
I'll get me coat
-
yes you better have got your coat... start running....
-

No only when Bernie tells em too
Seriously i am really pleased for Lewis, remember seeing him in his karting days on look east about 10 years ago, also a local lad to me ( or was cos i Ive moved)
Good luck for the season
-
He is a very very good driver, possibly even as good as me! I wish him well.
-

I agree, the only reason Shcumaker was so much better was the facilities he had to practice on at Ferrari, every day of the week he could drive a wet-weather race on their own test-track.
Lordy, I'd be good if I had that much practice.
-
yeah i think taking the traction control off em is a step in the right direction. torsion bars and coil springs next to be banned!!!
as for hamilton not being a car enthusiast ill stand by that. if you have that much cash and you are young why do you buy a diesel???
-

your so wrong!!
schumi (i love him and want to BE him!!) would win hands down, IMO one of the best there ever was...
-
Shuey was dirty when it didn't go his way, not clever, remember taking hill out on the last race championship decider? a good driver, but no grace in losing. =;
i think Lewis has the potential to be better
-
Noooo,
gamesmanship.... part of it, schumi was amazing at it...
my hero!
-
 :lol:gamesmanship are you german
granted he was a good driver no denying that, but he did crack under real pressure, and resorted to shunting tactics, i remember that night he shunted hill off the track, i wanted to throttle him
If your talking drivers then look no more than our nige, his battles with senna were awesome, and the epic battle with piquet in 1987 no competition, i was there at silverstone in 1991 when he won the British GP it was awesome
-

Yep, give me Nascar any day, lead can change 4 or 5 times in 1 lap and plenty of big wipeouts :D :D :D
-
Erm.. its not about crashing its about staying on the track
-
 :lol:gamesmanship are you german
yes, half. and?
granted he was a good driver no denying that,
YES!
Erm.. its not about crashing its about staying on the track
what he said :)
-
i am not denying he was a good driver, but he had a face like a slapped arse, when he won, no emotion, no passion....nothing....almost robot like.
The rules and his dominance of F1 almost killed it, no passion, no competion
Mansell was better IMHO
and Hamilton will be better than probably both of them
-

i Very Much Doubt he Purchased it it would be a Company Car and he would have little choice as to what he was given, those Merc Dervs are very powerful, i would have one if i liked mercs and i am the same age as Hamilton, its not just about being young and wanting power,
i love the power of my v8 but my derv was equally capable and very powerful
-
Is any1 going to the british grand prix this year

Suppose i never really thought about mecedes giving him the car. i would be mighty annoyed though if they told me what to drive and what adverts to do etc.
No doubt the merc derv is fantastic to drive and very practical but i think if he was a car nut he wouldnt want it, i know i wouldnt. plus what petrol head puts 22inch rims on his car??? pimptastic.
