Title: Disco 1 Roll Cage
Post by: Jonsey on March 16, 2008, 21:42:55
Hi, thought about Roll Cages and couldn't make my mind up but after seeing someone doing a couple of rolls down a hill today starting to think it might be a good idea! Done a bit of searching on here and Google and not really been able to find much out, such as where does them and cost ect...

Cheers

I'd go for one from Dan Evans, Protection & Performance
Tailormade to your requirements
http://www.ppcages.com/
I like this one they've made

£125 per point? i did not know that!
protection and performance are very good or north off road, the alternative is to make your own, some thing i have been toying with the idea of. a bender from the states around £400(thanks to there crappy economy ahahahaha) and a couple of hundred quid on some CDS and provided your good with a welder you have a cage exactly the shape/spec you want and at half the price!

I have seen some nice ones from north offroad, they did Cheviot 4x4 pick up disco cage and that looks great. i have seen some of the ones that Whitbread do for 90's and they look good as well. as for prices i have been quoted from £1000 up to £5000 dependant on what i want, North off road was prob the best price i got given.

My mate Pugh at Celtic Coatings in port dinorwic (near Cearnarfon) has just bought a mechanical pipebender that can bend 1" up to 3" without kinking it .

He's my new BEST friend

What I need is close up photos of the bolted connections between pipe to pipe and pipe to sliders/bumpers/chassy. the bending and welding won't be a problem but I want it to be a bolt together cage so I can powder coat the bits before assembly and I need to see the way the joints are done :D

Hi Lee,

Is your "new best mate" going to be knocking them out for sale or just a mate thing?

Cheers,  Chris

His Business is fabrication and powder coating so if theres money in it he'll make anything , At the moment he's building ten new chassy's for the new steam railway from Caernarfon and soon may be doing the same for Snowdon railway,he also makes gates, furniture ,climbing frames ,anything really so I can't see why not .Though my car (three door) is going to be the practice car and if after that he feels like building more then I will post it on here. Also as I will be doing most of the design and build work I'll get mine for the price of the steel and powder and a good few beers

This is why I need to get a close look at the joints on a bolt together cage like the silverline one above...
