Had a strange problem with my TD5 today, I started it up as usual but within about 5 seconds the engine cut out, tried several times to restart it but no way would it start. As I was about to take SWMBO to the shops I used the offroad truck, when I got back about an hour later I tried the TD5 again and it started perfectly and now seems OK.
The problem is why did it cut out and refuse to start? I am a bit concerned in case it does the same thing again when I am driving. Has anybody had a similar problem with a TD5?

Have you tried it since ?, does it drive ok ?
Mine did this - the high pressure side of the fuel pump had packed up, it would start and idle fine, but wouldn't drive faster than 20mph !

Hi
The car has been fine and not missed a beat since the problem on Sunday, but it still concerns me. I guess it had to be fuel starvation or or an electrical problem of some sort. When it cut out is was just as though the ignition had been turned off and when I tried to start it the engine just spun over without any sign of it starting. Very strange, but it is a Land Rover!!!!!!
