last year i put a bit of veg oil in the tank as you do, did about 60 miles then it started getting fuel starved, would tick over just about but if you rev it then it dies. blew out fuel line (after changing filter of course) and it was ok for maybe 10 miles, blew it out again and ok for maybe 5 miles. emptyed tank and put pump diesel in, blew fuel line out, still conks out after a few miles. eventually i figured the tank must be full of crap so i took it out and swilled it all out, put it back in blew all fuel lines out filled it with pump diesel and it was ok for ages. ran the odd bit of bio diesel and it was fine, filled up with bio the other day and 100 miles later its doing the same thing!!! exact same symptoms and everything, wont even run on pump diesel.
Lift pump was new last year (britpart though)
So im not sure what to think. maybe the britpart lift pump isnt strong enough to pull the bio from the tank sometimes, but then why isnt it fine on normal diesel after???
If you take the return pipe off it comes out but not right much and all frothy as if air has got in. so i thought maybe air was getting in with more suction needed for the bio it caused air to be sucked in somewhere but its all plastic pipe so i dont know how.
And why did cleaning the tank out last time cure it? i dont want to have to do it again it was a right ball ache to get off.
Anyone got any ideas???

Tell me about it my handbrake just collapsed and set on fire, snowing outside.
-
right im gonna set fire to it now. replaced the pipe, seemed ok till the top of the road and then same again!!!!
To be honest its so unreliable it would probably only burn for a few seconds then conk out.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
replaced lift pump today, ran fine for a bit, then 10 mins up the road it started playing up again and wouldnt rev, cracked the pipe off the output of the lift pump while it was ticking over and nothing coming out!!! stopped the engine, pumped the priming lever and fuel came out after a load of pumping! ran ok for another 5 mins then went again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so im at a loss, dont know what to do.

stop using second hand veg oil from the back of the chippy!!

watch it rob, i might set fire to yours instead

Sounds like your drawing air in near to the tank to me, does it still do it without the fuel cap on?
-
yeah tried it with no fuel cap.
i thought it was air but if you put the fuel pipe to the floor and start a syphon then it syphons out a treat so i wouldnt have thought so.
it also wont suck from a jerry can either.
im putting a leccy fuel pump on at the weekend see what that does. but im not happy about doing it, shouldnt need to.

When you changed the lift pump, did you take note of the lenght of the actuator arm. Some are dofferent, and have to be shimmed accordingly. Also, some have a spacer about 10mm thick. This would pump diesel ok, but the shorter stroke would be harder for the pump to pull the thicker BIO.
-
ahhhhhhhh. well, the lift pump i took off had no spacer and neither did the one i fitted before that. so neither does the one ive just fitted. (confused yet? lol)
ive not noted the length of the arm though.
dont see why any should be different, but will check. another one of land rovers bright ideas.
