Title: Help, does anyone have a td5 disco?
Post by: spy on March 27, 2008, 13:21:52
My father in law needs a set of wiper blades!  Can anyone tell me if they are standard fitting and if possible measure them for me?  My local motor factors dont list anything specific for them, land rover want £9 + vat per blade.  We have stacks of blades in stock at work but hes 30 miles away and I am going round on saturday.  I dont want to take the wrong ones...

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Mike

I tried our local motor factors when I needed some for the TD5... I ended up going to LR for them in the end.

You could possible just change the rubber with a bit of messing around, 20" long they are, Don't think you will be able to fit universal ones due to the way they are attached to the wiper arms..

The carrier is 'formed' to fit the wiper arm - found this out when trying Halfords ones. Bought the standard replacement blade and swapped it in the end, the old blade can be cut out and the new one cut to length and slid in. Halfords do two lengths - you'll need the long ones.

Many thanks folks!  Swines, I hate the being forced to return to the dealer thing.  I hate pratting about changing rubbers even more though so its a call to the main stealer in the morning :D

Just before I posted this I was driving along and noticed a TD5 disco parked in a street.  I was tempted to go and have a nosey and measure them but thought it might look a little bit iffy!
