Title: Engine Re-mapping
Post by: lyndon on March 28, 2008, 14:38:23
Talking to a chap who specialises in LR and talking about a slight turbo lag I have, most notible when pulling out of junctions. Its very slight but I notice it. He has ofered to re-map the engine (at a cost) and says I won't recognise it afterwards. He reckons I'll get about 3 -4 miles per gallon more and have much better power and acceleration. He thinks it will cure the lag. Anyone have any experience with this ? Is it worth it ?.

Only one I've heard of is TD5 alive, but works out at over £500.

What motor have you got?

It could be that he's been servicing them and maybe he's not that good

TD5 Alive do very good maps.  They are specific to your car (no off the shelf stuff at all) and well worth the money IMHO.

For a quick and cheap fix I'll do you a deal on my old Dastek chip  ;)

I have a 2002 Td5 that has a mild upgrade that has increased power and improved fuel economy.
Had it done by one of members called Porny, knows about them as works for LR.
He turned the boost up on turbo as well as fitting new air cleaner and it has made a real difference.  Torque is really improved.
Great guy, very helpful and knows what he's talking about. Would recommend and he will travel.

I had my TD5 remapped... goes like a train now

Dont believe it will make it more fuel efficient though, not with all that extra spurt under yer foot!
