When I bought my 300 Tdi in December I thought I checked the low box and diff lock lever.Greenlaning at weekend at the top of a nicely steep hill went to push the lever forward.Not a chance seized solid.It wont even move sideways.I,ve tried spraying WD on it but cant get a good view to spray at the top of the transfer boxfrom underneath.Has anyone got a quick fix so I sort it out without major work.Sat here really annoyed with myself.Just had a look through old posts and there seems to bee more than enough info already on here to sort it out.Just got to work out how to remove the centre console doesnt look as simple as my old 200 Tdi

while applying pressure not too hard try switching between D and R and sometimes that can help, i take it you where trying to move it when it was in N not D or R ?

If it won't move sideways either then it's nopt just wind up in the transmission. Could be a stone caught in the mechanisam somewhere.

I,ve removed the centre console and started to spray rust releaser everywhere.I,ve managed to get the lever moving from side to side and looking at the arm on top of the diff that moves as well.But heres the rub if I undo the pinch bolt I can move it back and forward but not when I tighten it up.I,m hoping that its not the transfer box its self as anyone had the problem of the linkage as it goes in the box seizing up.But its so awkward to get to lay on your back on the street

Its fixed a lot of tugging and pulling spraying three different types of rust releaser every where .Then it went side to side. Abit more spraying and tugging it moved forward.I,ve tested it it goes into low box .It needs a bit more releasent as it isnt going back into high properly all the time.The difflock light came on Thats a relief.I,ve got to put it back together tomorrow after my planned hangover has eased :cool:.Then its road test .I,m going to pack it with grease and spray a water repelent that has a waxy coating on it.I will make sure it doesnt sieze again in the future.

Oh yes, couldn't agree more!!
every couple of weeks give it some exercise. I'm lucky in that I have a mate with a farm with a steep off road track. its ideal for exercising the diff lock :dance:
