if that £300 includes the kit (and the kits are £250???) then thats a good price. £50 quid labour only gets you an hour at my local 4x4 garage.

I'd  say fit it yourself ,Theres loads if info and tips on here and as your fitting it You'll know how it goes together if anything breaks .It's only a 1 day job and not too hard at all ;)

Over the last 5 years I've owned the Disco I've done loads of little jobs and a couple of big ones (head gasket, Timing belt etc) and every time you do a job your knowledge and skills will improve to the point where things become less and less intimidating and if you break down you'll  have a better chance of getting going again without help :D Comming from a life that revolved around motorcycles I knew nothing about Landrovers when I bought it but buy a manual and you will learn quick and save loads of dosh to spend on more goodies :D

I find if you do it yoursefl in the first place it's not so much a case that when it goes wrong you'll know how to fix it and more that becasue the person wielding the spanners actually gave a damn it's less likely to actually break down anyway.

Except for TDi head gaskets, they've got the better of me at the moment
