Hi All
My '93 Tdi Discovery has an intermittent problem with the offside indicators.
Sometimes, when indicating right, the indicator will flash a lot faster than normal. Presumably
this is down to a bad earth somewhere, but is there somewhere that is probably a likely culprit?
A bit lazy I know, but...

Check the wiring loom where it plugs into the bulkhead , I've had the same problem and it was just a plug loose on the passenger side of the bulkhead.(I must have clipped it when fitting the snorkle)

Check the earth wire on the front indicator (you need to pull the rubber cover back to check).
Mine are forever working loose.
Eventually they fall off altogether.

Hi all
Tried to check the bulkhead plug - the only bulk wiring plug/socket was behind the washer reservoir.
Unfortunately, it was not possible to get to that plug because of the desire of the reservoir
to stay where it was; the top two bolts were fine, but the lower two - in the wheel arch - didn't
want to come out...
I then moved on to the easier solution. The front indicator connections were clean, but the rear
indicator was showing signs of corrosion, probably because there is no rubber boot over the
connector (should there be one?). I have squirted some switch cleaner into the rear connector
and are keeping my fingers crossed. Unfortunately, it is a very intermittent fault.
Thanks for the replies.

i had similar symtoms on a car.. was a bulb blowing in an odd manner... did it for a week before it finally went! although my first port of call would be all connections cleaned and WD40`d

Had the same problem it was the plug between the light unit and the vehicle wiring loom working loose - the one just behind the indicator YMMV
