The world-famous Red Arrows have been banned from appearing at the 2012 London Olympics because they are deemed "too British". Organizers of the event say that the Arrows military background might be "offensive" to other countries taking part in the Games. The display team have performed at more than 4000 events worldwide, but the Department of Culture, Media and Sport have deemed the display team "too militaristically British". Red Arrows pilots were said to be "outraged", as they had hoped to put on a truly world class display for the Games, something which had never been seen before. Being axed from a British-based event for being "too British" is an insult - the Arrows are a symbol of Britain.
The Red Arrows have been excellent ambassadors for British overseas trade, as they display their British-built Hawk aircraft all over the world. The Arrows performed a short flypast in 2005 when the winning bid was announced, but their flypast at the Games was to have been truly spectacular.
It is to be hoped that common sense prevails, so if you disagree with this decision, sign the petition on the link.

Yeah, there's no such thing as red arrows.
Now known as multi national Arrows of an unspecified colour.

To focus on the title of this thread... I am of the opinion that no one can be 'too British'!
Sadly this damn country seems scared to show what it is and what it stands for.... maybe we should look west and try to be just a 'little' like the Americans and be somewhat more patriotic and proud to live in this country.
Lets be British and proud of the fact :D

Don't worry I thought it was real too the first time I saw the story last year....... then someone pointed out that it was a con and so I just remembered and googled it when I saw your post. We all get caught out occassionally ;)

With the Chinese having more and more influence in the economy of this Country, the Red Arrows may well be a very apt name in more ways by 2012.

Should'nt that be "Led Allows"

It still says something; the PC Brigade and Government have got us to the stage where you don't even question it.
Personally I still think the petition is a good thing; I could easily see them doing it, at least if there are enough people on the petition they may think twice

mind you, with defence cutbacks, we may end up with this.

Shoot them all.......

In this day n age, it's a wonder that the RED ARROWS are now called something like .....
"The United Colours of Sharp Nasty Weapons From the Middle Ages" and remember don't look directly at the sun when they fly by without wearing welding goggles and having read a pamphlet from the HSE on how to bend your neck to look skywards without wrenching your neck and wearing your full compliment of Personal Protective Equipment (including sun block on a warm day)[a]
[a] = a warm day is one where the average daily temperature exceeds ............... zzzzzz ...zzzzzzzzzz.....zzzzzzzzzz
