Title: 4x4 life savers
Post by: old joe on February 09, 2005, 07:40:28
od joe and me have been thinking.

and yes my brain hurts it was something that has been hurtling around my head for the past week or so since those 2 firefighters died.

how about 4x4 saves lives stickers seeing as every emergency service in this country has a 4x4 its another thing to add to the campaign.

wehether its the police, fire, ambulance, st john ambulance, rnli, mountain rescue, coat guard, search and rescue, 4x4 response the list goes on and on.

ok the it may mean more work for tim but i'll get sticker and ideas or thought's let me know through the forum. and yes i carry afulll medical back in my car everything form platers through to airways but at the end of the day after all i'm just a chelsea tractor according to the HYPE!!!

Good Idea, mind you, mine is an ex ambulance anyway, but still being used as my wife is disabled and I can fit her electric runabout in the back, and go anywhere

I also carry a full medi kit in mine and I have just done a 4 day course to bring my skills up to date (it's about the four or fifth time i've done it)

Another sticker could read mud-club medic Handy at events , to know who has the plasters

good point

liability i'm covered under the BT good will gesture and under st john ambulance and there is also the good samartians act.

Old joe does carry stickers to say that this veihcle carry''s a first aid kit however my kit carrys airways collars and general first aid bits dressings and plasters and hivis jackets joys of having a landy i get to go the points no body wants to take there cars.

the point of the sticker is not to advertise the fact that the vehicle has a first aid kit it's to promote that 4X4's support the emergency services another argument in the war against us law abiding countryside caring owners that we are and its an argument that i use often especialy when talking to ramblers that if you twist your ankle or have breathing difficulties in a countryside area a large percentage of the time it will be a 4x4 vehicle that reachs them or a helicopter a 4x4 would have helped in the rescue in some way especialy in the mountains hills, coast guard and the list goes on.

i have asked for opions if its none gower then fine i won't look at getting a sticker made up if people want stickers for there car that they carry 1st aid skit and they have the bits of paper then i can provide web address's.

again let me know

the other thing is about mud club medic is great idea however we all have a basic idea of 1st aid either by watching casualty or being a work first aider approved by the HSE if you're not sure then dial 999 as we don't ahve a committee the level of 1st aid cover and insurance doesn't realy come in to things.

any questions let me know as i can find the answers to most things

Good idea about the club medic.I carry full set in disco including airway management, oxygen collars etc.But then again thats my job.Our ambulance service has just aquired two new Shoguns that go nowhere,so Disco comes in useful!!

As to club medic if any training is required or cover for events then let us know, the wife is a clinical tutor as well.Live in Northampton.
