Title: Fings in the attic....
Post by: Thrasher on April 12, 2008, 12:35:46
I went up in the attic today to see if I could find out what was up there. Due to the shape of the roof I've never really looked into the front corners. What a shock! There's a "nest" - about 2 foot high with a 6"-8" entrance. The little blighters have taken our roof insulation and built a house!

I'm not able to get over to the area in question, but I suspect something large - although there is no animal smell, and no sign of droppings - suggesting that whatever it is also lives outside...

Any guesses?

Could just be a bird, I often watch a bird fly into my neighbours attic, his pointing fell out on his new extension ridge tiles and the little beggars fly in then come and sit just inside the hole. I have told him about them but his wife is an animal lover and won't let him do anything about it

That's the current favourite. Looks like a family, so we have to be careful. Tomorrow we'll block the access points with mesh and make sure the nest is empty. Bad news, for me, is I have to buy a load of boarding to get all the way over there!

Pray it's not giant Jaspers! we ad a hornet nest in our loft .. that was fun !

And think of the advantages .... board out the loft = space to put more "stuff"
