Hi guys,
Im having major trouble with the range rover.Fuse B4 blows as soon as a new one is put in.Ive checked as much wiring as i can,got all the dah appart, the whole centre console out and cant find any dodgy wiring.Ive disconnected the alternator, reverse light switch (i think) cigar lighter ,radio, dash clocks, electric windows, trailer electrics ,took the back lights out.Still cant figure it out.I tested the fusebox and it is shorting to earth somewhere on the circuit for b4.Theres full power on one pin and earth to the other.
Please can someone help as im miffed off as its totally spoilt my weekend of offroading.Worked fine all week going to work, then weekend comes and it conks out.The whole thing brought to a standstill because of an electrical fault ! :'(

What does fuse b4 control.

I think :
Air suspension
Reverse lights
instrument cluster
starter relay
speed sensor
cigar lighters
autoshift illumination.

I would check the wiring to the air suspension also starter relay as both of these are open to abuse from the road dirt etc.had problems with my starter relay on my old rangy so ended up rewiring it and putting a new relay inside the car as mine was in the engine bay on the n/s at the bottom of the bulkhead and got full of dirt and shorted out

I'd check the speed sensor for the same reasons, it's alongside the gearbox on the chassis rail or on the gearbox it'self from '94 onwards.

hi guys,
thanks for the replies. The air suspension has been disconnected,no fuses in it anymore. The speed sensor i disconnected it.The starter relay i believe is inside on mine as there arent any under the bonnet.I tried what i think was the relay, but no change.
After some more thought today,i think maybe it could be the starter motor solenoid.Im off outside now to see.
cheers

nope not the starter.

Ok my sound silly but do you plug things into the cig lighter eg phone charger etc. As after time these spread the two positve prongs that hold the cig lighter in apart and could touch the negitive side of the tube have a lok inside and se if they are touching or close. or meter out the back to prongs of the cig lighter socket and see if you get a reading they could be shorting out together

hi ,
I have all ready disconnected the cigar lighters both front and rear,i dont use them either.
I maybe onto something though,it maybe a problem with something under the drivers seat,im going to pull it out tomorrow and have a look.
cheers
