Well on top of all the other things that have gone wrong with my TD5 disco II the steering box is losing fluid faster than i can top it up. I've been told that the box is beyond salvage so I'm wondering if this is a D.I.Y. job or does it need to go in?

there is a seal kit for 200/ 300 series not so sure about td5 , company in lrm does them but cant remember the name of them soz , quite cheap to around 20 quid

Thanks for that but I have been advised that a seal kit wont do the job so the whole box must be replaced

Temporary fix....... Put about 20ml brake fluid in the power steering reservoir- expands the seals! mine has stopped leaking until the seals finally give in properly.....Should get it through the MOT tho!
