I have some wire's coming out from my brake's what are they for? Ben

Pad wear indicators, mine are all broken too (they aren't very strong) and the plugs are all busted up, so I don't worry about them.

When I get new pads do I order ones with wire sensors or without? Ben

They usually come with wires attatched (unless they're cheap & nasty). If you have "lost" the connector plug either cut the wires off the pad or use connectors. Personally I would cut them off just check pads regularly.

As far as I can tell the wires work fine, I just wanted to check what the wire's were so I didn't order the wrong pads. Ben

Personally I don't like them as they are only on one side; I once had a stone lodged on that pad, the one on the other side was wafer thin but the indicator gave a false sense of security.
Lesson reminded - there is nothing to beat checking.

Depending which model you have there is either 1 or 2 wired pads in a set, some later cars had 2 1 sensor each side at the front. They just make the pads more expensive.

I use the ealier RR pads without the wires as my wires are disconnected (tore off), They are mintex and are half the price of the same with the wires :dance: :dance:

I'm not sure how good they either, I have them on mine and they work fine, I have had a flickering red light for a while.... not replaced them yet as I'm saving for EBC discs and pads, any way the red light has stopped flickering now and has gone off... I guess I have worn the pads so low that the wires have come out the pad! I'm hoping the audible alarm still works OK though... I'm told its a screeching alarm sound that sounds like metal on metal!

The down side to the wired pads is that if you change them when the light illuminates you will still have plenty of meat on them.
I normally check regular since I seem to be under the car more than I'm in it, failing that when the grinding noise starts you class it as an early warning system :lol: and change asap
