I've never done a 90, but I did an MG Midget myself a few years ago.  if you buy the loom from a reputable supplier and you are methodical in your approach it's fairly easy.  I took lots of pictures and video of everything before I took it apart and it took me a couple of days to do the whole lot.  Loom cost just over £100.  Only issue I can think of with a Defender is that the loom may run inside the chassis at the rear, did on my Seriess III but my 90 has a replacement galv chassis and the looom is on the outside.

fairly easy, get a wiring diag to know what colours go where. with the chassis leg, tie the new one to the old one to pull it through.  As said above, reputable dealer, you dont want cheap wire and want it in the correct colour

Unfortunately, a Land Rover loom is a bit more than the one for your MG Midget. But AutoSparks is a good start. I loaned them a genuine chassis harness to copy for one they didn't list previously. I have one of their main harnesses..... about £400 IIRC!

Mine had to go through a new chassis. If you have to do this, find yourself a friendly electrician with fibreglass rods to pull a piece of string through  :D
