Title: Good old Microsoft!
Post by: gords on February 10, 2005, 00:36:44
All our PCs and Servers have been popping up with "new updates to install" tonight - and, boy, what a list :roll:

Oh well, not my bedtime yet then :(

Oh yes, and I don't want to hear the "don't use windows" point of view, thank you =;

only takes a couple of mins

A bit more when you've got 3 desktops (I'll leave the laptop for now!), 2 local servers and one remote server to do :roll:

But I've done them all now, so I'm off to bed .. supposed to be at a breakfast club meeting at 7am tomorrow :shock:

I know how you feel I spent all morning installing a new virus scanner on our network which is supposed to be done from the server but as sods law dictates when you have more important things to do it won’t work.

I do use Windows...  I use it as a virtual machine on my Mac, about once a month.  The rest of the time I use a *proper* operating system. :wink:

If you have a big network then you should have a look at BigFix for your patch distribution:

www.Evesham.com/BigFix

Not that I might be the product manager for it or anything! 8)

I am still trying to get my head around installing the Linux based firewall (smooth wall) at home. 3days it's taken me so far.
 Bloody thing keeps throwing up a blue screen whilst trying to detect the USB modem. I think it's time to liberate the old web sense server that’s been sitting in my office at work! Nice and easy to setup.

 Sorry that's my rant for the day over now :) i'm off to murder the firewall PC if it dosn't work this time :twisted: .
