Just a quick question, will a roof light bar still fit with a mantec raised air :-k just curuios as they both bolt in the same sort of place
Cheers Dave
-
may just need a little extension made to fit at a guess and easy fix
-
dont know about the mantec but i have a safari with a light bar , no probs...alan

Ok cheers guys

Mmmmm, not sure - I've got a Mantec/DIY hybrid snorkel on mine and I've just made some drawings for a light bar.
Problem is the mantec top is off centre so it sits in toward the centre of the truck to reduce the overhang and stop it snagging stuff. This puts it right over the point where the side mounts for the light bar would normally be. To overcome it on my bar I've had to design a totally differently shaped mount for the passenger side so it goes under the top of the snorkel. I played with the idea of using the snorkel top as the mount on that side, but changed my mind as I want to change the top anyway - if you face it forward it points up to the sky at about 30 degrees and looks pants, (due to the angle of the top of the snorkel pipe - the top has a complimentary angle in it so they cancel out and it sits flat - but only if its facing backwards) so I'm going to make a new one with a reversed angle in it that can face forward for that 'ram-air' effect so I can squeeze a few more MPGs out of her!
My god, that went off topic a bit.
So, I'd reckon you need to be careful which bar you pick as they may not all fit with a standard Mantec snorkel....

Thanks for that info will be usefull will have to see whats the best fit first then really

Ram air effect is a myth unless you intend to stick a huge funnel on the top of the snorkel.

yes they do fit had that satup on my disco was very happy  and now off a few that have got it done :D :D
-
Red, its got a huge funnel on it already that's designed to point backwards and basic aerodynamic and fluid transfer theory dictates that any air rushing into the mouth of the forward facing snorkel top has to go somewhere - and that my friend will be straight down my 300 TDi's throat a lot faster than if it it was just sucking it in by itself through a rear facing snorkel top. So there.

I'm sorry but all the research and expert opinion is that a forward facing airscoop on a snorkel makes virtually no difference to a cars power output.

Ahhhhh, got you, you said 'virtually' no difference.
Plus I ended my statement with 'so there' which makes me the winner by default.

Bustard I'll give you that one then
