OK, I know it's not a 4x4 but I'm still going to have a 90 for every day work, I'm just fancying a "Sports car / GT" for occasional use, don't really want a saloon/estate based car, but something a bit different.
Must be a 2+2,
prefer V8,
prefer convertible,
Any ideas :-k I've come up with SL500, XK8 and 928

928 :D
If a 2 seater would do I'd say a TVR
-
Merc or Mustang convertible

I had a TVR, cracking car, massive boot and flew like the wind... best of all was the sound the V8 made!
It was total brutal, not electronic gadgets, limited slip diff and white knuckles...

Blackpool Rocks
TVR (http://www.zercustoms.com/car-show/albums/userpics/10001/2000-TVR-Cerbera-Speed-12-2.jpg)
OR
Noble (http://www.pictures-of-cars.com/Noble-M14-%5BMotorShows-2004%5D-600.jpg)
Bit more than ten grand though :'(

audi convertible, well nice and reliable
but unsure on the price range
the older pre facelifts are around 7k but the newer ones which are well mint at pushing 12k at least

SWMBO is thinking of giving up her motorbike and switching to a sports car due to an operation last year. We've currently narrowed it down to just one motor - Porsche Boxster S
We went through a long list but this is the one she's got her heart set on, Prices start at aroud 7k depending on age and condition. Just a thought.

Boxster - is that the front or the back?
Porsche 944, manual turbo, for 5-6k a top end beautiful one!
Triumph GT6 same if you pay 5-6k you will get a fully rebuilt, brand new classic!
but if you want v8 - AC Cobra or a Robin Hood!
-
Jaguar XK8. Very cheap for the spec and not bad car in the day plenty under 10k so its down to mileage. And its a 2+2.
Dont know how they drive.

Must admit, I do like the TVR's but the convertibles are strictly 2 seaters, same with the Boxters. The Audi's are nice, but maybe not different enough :(
Still can't get away from the original list..
928S4..
SL500/600
XKR Convertible..
-
928, just make sure it's got new tyres on it
OOOh, did someone say TR6
-
Actually, I think the 928 has it, once the worlds fastest car I beleive?

You could probably say that of a 1903 De Dion Bouton!
But seriously, a 928 is not such a bad idea these days. Buy one with good history that has spent it's later life with an enthusiast and you can't go far wrong. The only real problem is keeping it fuelled (reference to another thread!)
-
how about a classic like a trimph stag nice v8. and its a convertable with a hard top roof for the british summer time
-
how about a VXR Monaro supercharged V8 :P
OR
if you won the lottery tomorrow,
an audi R8
