Agreed, about time they did something...

I completely agree with this, but i think these government petitions are a waste of time as i have not heard of one them working yet.
-
I tend to agree with pux about the fact that none of these petitions have resulted in the Government doing what's been asked but this is something I feel strongly about and have signed it.
-
I have signed alot of these petition's, I think it's the governments way of making the people of the state actually believe they can persuade the powers that be to change a decision. When in reality this government will never change its mind no matter what the people think.
LABOUR :^o :^o
Still there all the same aren't they!

I'm with you all the way on this one Kev-have signed as well as the wife.

But amazingly if enough of us sign it that they become frightened of loosing their grip on the reigsn of power we might find out that they agreed with us all along, and what was all the fuss about anyway.
-
I'll happily sign this one, although I tend to agree with the futility of these online ones! Interestingly according to the stats, the consevatives have 44% to the labours 26% ! so there is a chance that they will react (I won't hold my breath though!)

Write to your MP... the online petitions are all well and good... but if you make a PITA of yourself to the local MP, then you can achieve things.
Problem is, far too many people in this country want to be spoon-fed. They love to be able to tick a box and say "I've signed a petition, now why isn't anyone doing anything ??" and then spend the rest of their time complaining about things to their mates in the pub.
If you want to make a difference, then you have to take some positive action and let the people that WE elected know that WE want some things to change. Forget all the excuses... "It won't make a difference", "They never listen", "They are all the same... what's the point".... The only thing that achieves is to let the MPs off the hook.
As a nation, we have the power to make our voices heard, and it saddens me on a daily basis that so many of us choose to do nothing more than complain to each other about it.
