Title: disco td5 over the 300

got a father in law that is set on a 300 tdi... as it will run veg,, my fault.... right as veg gone up so much lately , i m thinking he will be better off buying a 2000 TD5 and get the nicer dash etc etc

i like the 300 tdi thou i ve just sold a 200tdi and like that also .

Can you tell me hows teh TD5 going , no major issues?

 I am lucky enough to own both and can say that they are completely different to drive, while the 300tdi is nice to drive it doesnt come close to the comfort or power of the td5.

 As for problems the only down side to my td5 was the air suspension failing, soon cured that by fitting a coil spring kit for £100.

 Since the 300tdi is now 11 years old and had a tough 2 years laning the problems on it are down to wear and tear ie. bearings , brakes, bushes etc.

Is there much diffrence in the MPG of a TD5 over a 300Tdi :huh: thanks

i had a 97 300 tdi bloody rot box chassis, body everywhere, it had never seen dirt in its life either, traded it for a 2000 td5 far superior quieter quicker more power better on fuel (unless you nail it), i have now done 30k in it and have only changed the front shock bushes definite way ahead i reckon.
