Basically my disco is a rot box and im not prepared to try and do all of the work needed for its MOT in aug.
so ive come up with a plan to buy a defender 90 chassis with identification?? then ody panels and whatever other bits i need, but trying to keep the spends to a minimum and build a 90 using my engines/axle etc.. basically anything i can use off the disco, then scrap it.
is this legal to do? i really dont want the hassle of sva's and all of that..

perfctly legit, as long as you dont try and reg it as you old disco
-
Why not use your Disco chassis and running gear, then dump the body off and make a 100inch defender type thing?
you could then keep it as the Disco legally!

cheers discowoman
crazymac - i've thought about the 100inch alot, but did not know i could keep it legally a disco still? does the chassis not need modifications, shortend, recrosmember, outriggers...
-
You would need a defender rear cross member and weld on the out riggers for the bulkhead and rear tub, also the front bumper holes are in the wrong place
-
yeah thats what i thought. It might sound crazy, but i think thats alot more/harder than just building a 90 up.
just finished building a mates truck up using 90, series and disco bits. and some of that getting stuff to line up just took twice as long as if it was all one model.

There is undoubtably a lot of work in creating a 100 inch, but legally there is much less problems than cutting down a 110 for instance!!
There are outriggers etc to be cut/replaced and you would need to sort the size of the tub, roof etc. but from a points view point, you retain the chassis, axles, suspension, engine, gearbox so you have plenty points to retain the original reg!
